Motored to a neighboring town to visit relatives. She is going to draw a portrait of a picture of a barn. I took this picture a year ago and I really treasure the picture. I appreciate her idea to paint a picture of something that I photographed.

Had a few snow flurries today but nothing serious. Temperature is hovering around 25ºf.

Here I am again to post a few notes from my nimble little mind. Breakfast at McD's this morning with a few friends. We meet there quite often on Tuesday mornings. Lots to discuss each week to set the world right. Guess the world isn't listening to our suggestions. Cold snap is predicted for the next few days. Didn't mention about any snow. Wazz happ'n. Felt sorry for the Vikings ¼back yesterday. Spent a lot of time hitting the grass. To paraphase a uncopyrighted popular song of today, "Quarterback on the ground, quarterback on the ground-you can't complete a pass laying on the ground. Linemen don't hold, you land on your back on the icy cold turf." Since the author of "Pants On The Ground" didn't copyright his song I won't bother copyrighting this either. Don't think I will try writing song lyrics for a living.


LUCKY 13

Made dinner again today. We enjoyed a leisurely meal of chicken noodle soup and oyster crackers with coffee followed by fruit served in a round plastic dish. A second cup of coffee was enjoyed then the wife had to leave for a few volunteer hours at the local St Vincent de Paul. We did not get to go to the RV Show as planned. Not sure of the weather and then she got the call they needed help at the check out at St. Vinneys. Tomorrrows weather should be miserable so I guess we won't make it to the RV Show.

Meant to mention yesterday that we saw a lot of ice fishermen on the area lakes. Not a fisherman myself but more power to those that enjoy the sport. We love to camp, used to camp in a tent when we were younger and had a bunch of kids. Even later we got rid of our circus tent and got a pup tent. Then for our 50th wedding anniversary we got a very small camping retro type camper. We enjoy this type of camping better for our age. No dampness and am able to almost stand up to change clothes. We usually camp at electric sites but we also rough it with no electric. Tomorrow weather permitting we hope to drive into Illinois and attend a RV Show. Enjoy looking over the really big RVs.

Took a journey to the big city for a Dr visit. Later to the daughters to see her and the grandkids. Then stopped at an Indian Casino for a quick bite to eat. Wife and I split a triple decker BLT and crispy french fries. Both items were delicious. Like the fries crispy. Then we hit the slots for a little action. Wife lost a small amount and I came out ahead a very small amount. Had fun and we stayed in the non-smoking area. Still smelled like smoke when we got in the fresh air.

I was the dinner cook today. We enjoyed a fine meal of popcorn and beer. Dessert was a delicious cup of the finest fruit served in a small plastic cup. Amazing what a man can do when asked to do a meal. I could have served some fine frozen dinners but I felt the popcorn and beer went better with football playoffs. Had to substitute soda for my wifes beer. I enjoyed her beer too. Put a pizza in the oven for supper. Still having some problems with the new stove and oven. Had to ask for help in setting the dials.

Here I am again. Not much to note, just a repeat of yesterday. Went looking for a winter jacket for me with no luck. Maybe go to the Mall tomorrow. Meeting friends for breakfast tomorrow as we do quite often on Saturdays. Always good to sit across the table and chat with them.

Just thought I would drop in and write a little message. Not much doing today. Temp was a little warmer today. It was 36ºs but cloudy. Some melting of the snowbanks occurred. Went shopping locally but again we bought nothing. Did a little chopping of ice and shoveled a little snow to keep the melted snow moving down the street and not puddling in my driveway. Well until next time.

Not as warm today as predicted. Drove over to Madison to pick up our van. Did a little bargain shopping but we didn't find anything that we needed. Stopped to see daughter and 2 of the grandkids. They were in a good mood for just having waken up. Van drove good on the way home. Seems as the problem is solved, I hope.

The pictures of the Pub, yesterday and todays, were sent to me from Merry Old England by a couple on a geezer site that I belong to. They like to sent Pub pics to me on occasion and tell about the Pubs burgers, good bad or indifferent. Always like to get this info from them.

Pick up the van tomorrow. Hope what ailed it is fixed up. Glad it was under the warranty
Tomorrow temps should soar up into the mid 30's. It will start to melt the snow that covers our yards to make room for more new fallen snow in a day or two. Hope the sun feels good and streams thru our windows to keep the house warm and keeping our furnace to run at a minimal amount of time. Thats it for this day::::::::

Laundry today and catch up on reading Sundays newspapers. Then take our van into the garage for repairs. Gave us a 2010 auto with only 995 miles on it to use til ours is done. Be glad to get our van back, don't like driving other peoples cars, especially new ones. Our van should be ready tomorrow.

Took it easy today. Too cold out to do anything. Watched the Packer game, not a win for the Pack. Lost in overtime. It took me 2 MGD's to get thru the game. Better luck next year team. Getting late, will sign off now.

Here I am again. We went out for breakfast with another couple then home to do a little house work. Worked with my slides converting to pictures on computer and enjoyed seeing these old pictures again. Wish I could do the same with our old old negatives from when my the sibblings were all young. Later went to Church then picked up a few items at the grocery. Before we headed home we stopped into McDonalds for a burger and a cup of coffee. Made for a good day. Temp this morning at wake up was +3º f. Sun came out later to make it a somewhat pleasant afternoon.

Snow, lots of snow, I shoveled, I used the snow blower and did our driveway, the neighbors driveway and shoveled a path for the pup. By the way it is still snowing. Just had a slowdown of the snow flakes and those of us retirees were out getting fresh air. Tomorrow more snow and blistery winds to make the outdoors really miserable. Will have to learn how to post pictures to this blog so I could give a better idea of what I'm spouting off about.

Still the lucky 13th

We had breakfast at McDonalds, my wife, myself and four widows. I was sort of like a King and his Court. The only jesters seemed to be on the TV. Didn't have time to watch the TV too much as the chatter of the women kept me enthralled. Always a pleasure to be surrounded by such beautiful senior women. Looking forward to next Tuesdays breakfast.

Here I am back to write some more words to mystify the universe. Busy day, did the washing and folding. Then spent the rest of the afternoon sitting with the pup and reading the newspaper. Such an exciting life I lead. Peaceful time, no TV or radio. Just pup and me. Wife was off volunteering. That's it for now. lucky 1-3 thats me

Not sure why I dropped in tonight. Things have been rather dull around the homestead the past few days. The cold weather is sticking around and my stuffy nose is keeping me homebound. tomorrow will be more exciting, I will be doing the laundry. Guess that's it tonight. Keep warm.

Just thought I would check in, hoping that I would remember my password etc. Guess everything worked cause here I am. Cold out all day. Present temp is +3º f. With wind chill it is about -15º f. No snow in sight.

Anyone check into this blog yet? But then, what the heck I say would interest anybody anyway. Anyone checking out this blog better get a life. Inviting isn't it! Just kidding , I'm sure somewhere down the lane I will say something interesting and really profound and people will check in to see what this fella has to spout off about. Just sitting at this computer on the first day, January 01, 2010, thinking I should start a blog of my own. Not particularly about any one thing, just somewhere to place what ever comes into my mind no matter how trivial. I'm not sure how often I will enter into this domain, perhaps just when the mood leads me to this site. Hope all people of the world will enjoy peace before this year is out.
