Yes it has been way too long since I last posted. A lot has happened in our families life. Don't recall if I wrote about our first great grand child, born in October than a few weeks ago our second great grand was born in Minnesota. So now we have two great grand daughters.
Our daughter-in-law had her liver transplant, it was fine until a few days later she developed a blood clot in an artery. She than had to have another liver transplant. This was a few weeks ago and she has finally, today in fact had the last tube removed from her body. Actually this last tube was a tube in her neck and she could not talk. We talked to her today on the phone and it was good to hear her voice. We had not seen her since we visited her in the hospital on Christmas Day.
Yesterday, Sunday the 30th of December we had our family Christmas at our house. Yes it was loud but it was also a great time. Bill could not attend as he was staying overnight and then spending the day with Lori in the Hospital. Kurt and Mark drove down from South Dakota with their 4 dogs. Mark also brought me a 12 pack of Alaska beer. The dogs remained in their truck except for a few runs in our fenced in area of our backyard. It was good to have everyone over. Our granddaughter from Minnesota and her hubby and daughter could not make the trip either but she phoned and her presence in this manner was a pleasant treat for all of the family.
Well it is very late in fact I just missed the New Year, guess I was too interested in thinking about this post to give the New Year much thought.
Well "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to all who stumble onto this page of my life. Take it cool.

Don't Know What
What!!!What!!!WHAT!!!andWhy!!!Why!!!WHY!!!don't my brilliant writings show up on this blog. Last week I wrote about our bus trip with the local Senior Center to Oneida Casino in Green Bay, Wisconsin then continue on to the Island Resort and Casino in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Not any luck at the slot machines but a lot of good company on the bus ride and in the casinos. The room at the Island Casino was comfortable as was the bed. The room was clean and we had a great view of the surrounding area. Our room was located on the 5th floor and overlooked the parking lot, the camping area, the busy highway and a large forest. The sunrise was just a beautiful sight.
Not much more to report so I will sign off now. Still don't know why last weeks report didn't show up let's see if this one will.

New Great Grand Daughter
Very early this morning we got the news, our grand daughter had a baby girl. This is our first great grand child. Mother and baby are doing fine. Not sure of her name. Not sure if this is official but our Son-In-Law e-mailed us and called her Elli, that's good enough for me. I'll call her Elli and shortly she can call me gramps. I like it.
Want to head for Facebook now to see if I can track down one of our grandsons who is in Rome attending college. Hope I can find his a note from him there or maybe he wrote something on his blog.
Well, this Great Grand Pa has to head out. Enjoy life-all.

Quick Update
Daughter-in-law was doing pretty good recovering from her operation as I recorded in my last posting. Then a blood clot in one of the artery's to the liver developed and now she may have to under go a new transplant. We stopped to see her in the hospital 2 days ago and she was sleeping, a restless sleep. When the wife touched her arm she tried to open her eyes but it was a problem for her. A nurse ran down to get our son who was in the hospital doing some bookwork . Very lucky that he can do work from this setting. He was glad to see us and we talked with him for awhile. Another friend of theirs does volunteer work at the hospital so she checks in on the D-I-L quite often.
On another note, as a beer tester back in the mid 1950's to the early 1970's, I often look for beers that I am not familiar with. Also I have family and friends who on occasion pick up a beer for me to share with them my expert opinion of this product. Last month camping along the Mississippi River with my baby sister and her hubby they had 2 beers for me to try. Because of the weather and our travels to a nearby casino alsoI had to go to the nearest town for a haircut I only got to taste one of the beers. Anne, I hope you still have the 2d sample for me.
Well time to hit the sack, it was a tiring day today. Read the paper all morning, went to Church this evening and then to McDonalds for a delicious supper. Busy, busy day.

Great News
As in the last post, our daughter-in-law went for a liver transplant. It was successful and a few problems but all in all she came thru O.K. It was a 12 hour operation. We drove to Madison today to see her and to give our son a little break. D-I-L was resting. She would open her eyes on occasion then fall back to sleep. We think she recognized our voices. When we arrived we met her mother and sister in the parking area and her sister walked us to the room. Then she left to go home. They had been at the hospital since 6:00 a.m. The D-I-L will be in intensive care for about 3 days then not sure how long she will remain in the hospital. Our daughter stayed with our son at the hospital all night. He was very happy with the company.
Again on a lighter note. Excuse the errors in the last post and any in this one. Had a heck of a time getting to this area where you can type the news.
Yes, I had a beer when we got back home. It was another brew from the brewery in Salt Lake City. The brew is a very dark color. It is named BABA Black lager and the name fits. I probably mentioned in previous posts that I am not a shall we say a person who likes the lite beers or the dark beers. This beer was very dark but it had a great taste. I would buy this beer every now and then if it was available here. I hope to post a few pictures of some of the beers when things settle down around here.
That's all for now.
Very lucky 13 Not even going to proof read it-I did yesterdays and missed a lot.

Lots Going On
As I am writing this our daughter-in-law is undergoing a liver transplant. Praying all goes well for her. Thanking the family that lost their loved one but willing to pass on a part of his life to give new life to someone unknown to them.
Granddaughter doing well and will deliver our 1st grandchild in mid October. Looking forward to this big event in all our families life.
Now will go to a lighter subject. Tasted two beers in the past few days. Both brews are brewed in Utah. Salt Lake city to be exact. Both were good beers. Sum-R Ale was a light brown ale with a good taste but a bit of an off aftertaste. The Cutthroat Pale Ale was a brew that I could really enjoy at any time. It had a great malt taste with a pleasant bitter aftertaste. As the saying goes, "Bring It On". Would really taste good around a camp fire on a cool fall evening.
Well I guess I won't hear any news tonight about the operation. Will hit the sack now and won't be at all concerned to be woken up with goes news about the operation.
lucky 13 signing off.

Just Ramblings
Wow almost a month since I last bored anyone who happens upon this page. We returned home Sunday from a 4 day camping trip. It is our so-called South Shoto Camping group. It consists of myself and my wife, my sister and her hubby and another couple. This is our yearly camping get together. Don't recall how many years that we have been camping on this particular weekend but it has been many many years. Our meeting camping area changed a few years ago. But our main purpose of having a good time together remains. Bill W. and I always bring a few odd beers that we sort of keep an eye out as we shop. We like the beers that we have never heard of and we just - shall we say stumble upon them. By that I mean we do intentionally look for the brews that are not readily available in our local area. This year we had a few home brews also.
Now to change the subject. Our weather here in Southern Wisconsin has been very hot with temps over 100ยบ F. for many weeks. Our grass in very dry and has a short straw like consistency. Tonight however, as I type this the rain is falling. I should say the "Welcome Rain" is falling.
Well it is getting late and I'm sure I bored any reader long enough. Good evening.

Been quite awhile since I last posted. These posts of mine seem to stretch further apart in time as we go along. Lots happening in our life. Some good, great grandchild on its way. Also some not so good. Daughter-in-law is still waiting for a heart transplant. She has been in and out of the hospital often the past three months. Waiting for a liver also. She goes up and down on the waiting list. Hope things fall in place for her soon. Not meaning for something bad to happen to someone else.
We have been camping and attending graduations lately. Tomorrow we are going to attend our 6th graduation party this June. Good to meet old friends and some of the close relatives that you don't see very often.
Just glad to be able to post this even if it is sort of short.

Just Keeping In Touch
Haven't posted in awhile so I thought better get on the ball and write and jot down a few words, not particullary of wisdom, but words of old Lucky 13.
We had rain overnight and into the morning a bit, but late morning the sun came out and it ended up a beautiful day. Lawn was still too damp to mow, Hooray. Not sure how this note will turn out I just got a note from the BLOGGER that this note will not be accepted. Guess I goofed but then a note comes along and states-Ignore warning-Oh well I have trouble posting pictures too.
I won't go too deep in this post cause it may not be printed.
Have a good day.

I'm back
Not that I went anywhere, but I'm back. Mowed the front lawn yesterday, rested, mowed the back lawn yesterday, rested, mowed the side lawn yesterday, rested with a beer. Good job well done. Today trimmed the hedge--no rest just kept going then had mein frau pick up the cuttings. I did hold the large clipping bag for her. Then rested with a beer.
A friend and his daughter brewed two brews. One lager and one dark porter. Both excellent beers. Didn't drink those after doing chores. I sat down in the evening in front of the TV and enjoyed the fruits of their labor. They have a few more brews in process again. I know I will get samples. I have some brown bottles that they need real bottle caps not the screw on types.
Just have to check the tires on the T@B and we will be ready for camping. The weather has been good for camping the last few days, hope the weather continues thruout the camping season.
Hope to get back to these pages sooner than the time between this post and the previous post. Have a good day.

Yes it is Tuesday and yes we had breakfast at McDonalds with our little group.
Uploading the same picture that I loaded with the post that just disappeared. I don't know what I do but the posts just disappear. Makes for an interesting subject.
Motored to St. Norberts College in DePere Wisconsin Sunday to attend their Chamber Choir Concert. Our grandson is a member of this fine choral group. The concert started with the music department professors greeting the audience with a few musical selections. Then the Chamber Choral Group entered the stage and treated the assemblage with musical notes that filled the auditorium. It was a very enjoyable concert. Our daughter and granddaughter also attended. It was a delightful day to travel as the sun was out and the roads were dry. Although there had been a snow fall a few days earlier the roads were in very good shape.
Hope the picture posts.

Time To Post-Really About Time
Wow didn't realize that this much time had gone by since I last posted. Guess not too much to write about or just be lazy, your choice. Had a snow fall yesterday and last evening. Somewhere between 4" and 6" of new fallen snow upon waking up this morning. It was heavy snow but the old snow thrower started so it was not to bad to clear the driveway. Lots of noise in the neighborhood when a few of the snowthrowers are operating. A few years ago I wouldn't have bothered with the machine just would have shoveled it out by the old snow shovel.
Hoping that a photo from my last post of our trip to Ottawa Lake will show up on this day. I will give some time but if it doesn't show up so be it. It must be bashful.
Don't recall if I posted about the Leinenkugel Fireside Nut Brown Beer that I have been drinking for the past few evenings. It is a fairly dark beer which normally I don't care for, but this beer I truly enjoy. It was on sale and the beer delivery man was marking it at a sale price when I was shopping and I said to him that dark beers were not for me, he said you'll like this one. A true salesman-however, he was right.
Guess that the picture did not post yet but I'm ready to sign off.
Sorry about that. Guess I won't attempt to post a picture of the beer.

We went for a ride today to Ottawa Lake State Park. It was a pleasant day for a ride and we figured if a park ranger was there we would buy our 2012 Park Sticker. The park was open but the Ranger Station at the park was closed. We remembered that a few years ago we had visited a museum run by the Park Ranger and we headed for that to see if it was open. Lucky for us it was open and we purchased our park sticker for the car. As you can see from the photo the area is hilly and lots of sharp curves in the road. You can also see from the picture the lack of snow in the area. Enjoyed the ride and the sunny day.
Watched the Super Bowl until 6o minutes came on then switched to that for the hour. We missed the half time show but I'm sure we will see many of the commericals rebroadcast for the next few days. After 60 Minutes was off went back to the ball game and was satisfied with the final score. Enjoyed a brew during the game. A 16 oz Schlitz. Hadn't had a Schlitz in a long time. It was enjoyable and tasted alot better than the Milwaukee Best that I have been drinking.
The picture hasn't posted yet I will wait a few minutes and if it doesn't post so be it. It shows it is posting but it is not showing up, will try another day to post it.

February Already

Its been quite awhile since I last posted. Weather wise not much happening in this area. It is the most unwinterlike weather that I can remember. Never thought that we would experience a December or January as mild as this in this section of Wisconsin. So far this winter I have shoveled snow 3 times and used the snowthrower just once. Our roads are completely dry, no snow or ice only sand is on the concrete. Guess I should be happy as I haven't experienced too many aches and pains from the lack of snow removal.
Oldest daughter stopped over yesterday with a home brew that she home brewed. It was a dark porter and it was quite tasty. Keep em coming gal.
The squirrels have been quite busy in our backyard. Of course the neighbor and myself keep them in supplies. The hazel nuts I keep feeding them keeps them on their toes and it is a ball just watching them in our yard and especially on our backyard fence.
would like to post another picture or two but is way past my bedtime.
Goodnight,

First Post Of The Year

Came across the T@B/Packer picture and thought it should be in my blog. Not much to write about so far this year or even this winterery season. Can't complain about the weather so far, only had to shovel snow twice so far. Temperature has been quite cool but not the sub zero temperatures as in the past few years. Those temps may be coming but as stated haven't been here yet.
Kurt and Mark were home on the week-end and always good to have the boys home. Daughter-in-law is home from the hospital and is in need for a liver. She is feeling somewhat better but still has to be in the hospital often for various treatments.
Tomorrow going to McD's with the usual Tuesday group and also to meet up with Mike to discuss what we will do with our NADAKLU and its PowerBall ticket purchases. PB is doubling its price to $2.00 a draw, up[ from $1.00.
That's all for now, lucky 13
