Old Days Beer Delivery

Much to report since the last post. We traveled and camped along the Mississippi River, then in Iowa and back to the camp grounds along the Mississippi. When we got back home we attended two outdoor musical concerts.
Not in the writing mood at this hour but will be back soon to share some of the adventures.

Antique Autos-Classic Cars

Plymouth check the Mayflower hood ornament.

Went to the park this evening for the antique auto show. Collectors from all around the area bring their old autos and collector cars for people to view. Many many autos were there and also many many people looking at the classic autos. The burger, brat, beer stand was open as well as the ice cream wagon was selling treats from its vehicle. Enjoyed a brat and a beer then toured all the autos present. Weather was threatening and a few raindrops were felt but it did not deter the people and not enough rain drops for the convertible tops to be put in place. A nice evening for me and my bride to see the vehicles and meet many old friends we hadn't seen in many years.

Doo Wop

Attended another concert this evening. This one was held at our local bandshell. The agenda was four guys singing doo wop music. No instruments of any kind just voices singing songs of the "50's". The fifties great times. My life in the 50's: LHS graduation, getting a job as beer taster, marriage and then getting my draft notice from President Eisenhower. Yes 2 years spent protecting our country. Like my life during this time the music was great and it was about an hour and 15 minutes of the songs of this era. Very enjoyable evening. Even the weather was pleasant and mosquitos were absent. How can you go wrong with an evening like this.

A few of the beers we tested from the post of Tuesday July 13, 2010

Attended a free outdoor concert on Wednesday evening. It was a bluegrass band. I'm not a big fan of blue grass but it is always nice to sit out in the park and see the crowds. Also meet people that you ordinary don't come in contact to often. It was a pleasant evening and we did enjoy the music and the refreshments available for purchase. I had a bratwurst and a can of Miller. A little saurkraut on the brat and it was delicious.

Brews we didn't get to taste test last week-guess I will have to test them by myself.

Camping-Beer Testing

Back and getting caught up from our 5 days camping last week. It was fun. It was at a small park and three different groups were camping. First group was a bunch of old timers, they were as old as our 3 couples. Then was a group of about 15 RV and tents who were celebrating Christmas in July. This group was possibly family. They had very very young children to old geezers like our 6. Finally our group which were out to test beer samples. I don't have the final count of the number of beers and ales we tasted but it was all under control and we only tasted a few brews each day. The light IPA brews were definitely the best and the fruit flavored (Blueberry etc) were found to be unacceptable. A few of our children stopped over with their youngsters to enjoy the festivities with us. The grandkids enjoyed the treats and the playground. Don't know why this is underlined but I'm sure it's for a good reason. Mowed the lawn yesterday and finished it today to get back into the rountine of life until we take off for our next campout.

Hi all, hope your holiday weekend has been as good as mine. We have had 3 very warm (hot) days but a nice breeze kept things in check. Friday to the ball park for a brat and a beer. Saturday breakfast with friends then later mowed the lawn. After a shower, church, supper at McD's then shopping. Had a refreshing large bottle of Rondys Brew 2009. It went down good.
Today just took it easy and later went to the band shell once again for a 4th musical celebration. Would have enjoyed more of the patriotic music and less talk. Much of the speeches were what we learned in 4th grade at school.
